Arthur was born February 24, 1951, in Scottsbluff to Jose and Aurora (Garcia) Gonzales. He graduated high school and then went on to serve in the Nebraska National Guard.
He married Rachel Salazar on February 7, 1970. Together they made their home in Scottsbluff where they raised their family.
From a young age, it was obvious that Arthur was both a quick learner and a hard worker. He was working the fields and driving a tractor by the time he was just nine years old. Family meant everything to him and he worked hard to ensure their needs were met. His work ethic kept him busy until he retired in May of 2026 from BNSF . Arthur had a wide range of skills that contributed to his diverse work history, which included owning and operating Pepas Restaurant, working as a machinist with BNSF Railroad, and taking on many other roles along the way. Anything he did not learn from his jobs he read about from coaching championship little league to fixing any car.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, BNSF Union, Brown Sugar Band, and made some of his best friends at BNSF. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an avid sports fanatic and faithfully attended his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rachel of Scottsbluff; children, Marc (Paqui) Gonzales, Alicia (Jonas) Longoria, Danny Gonzales, Yolanda (Carlos) Williams, and Vince (Crystal) Gonzales; grandchildren, Zeyda Gonzales, Breqkon Gonzales, Alexa (Gabe), Noah, and Isabella Longoria, DJ Gonzales, Dre Chaune Towers (MaKenna), Carlos Jr., Camar, Kamea, Jhameka, Zacari, and Kyree Williams, Ciera, Jazmine, and Keon (Erica) Booker, Trey and Xiomara Gonzales, and Parker and Easton Palser; great-grandchildren, Delilah and Gabreella Gonzales, Kyson Pillow, Saray Booker, Denahi Gonzales-Booker, Emberlee Gonzales, and Kallai Booker; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Aurora Gonzales; infant son, Angelo Gonzales; brothers, Louis, Elmer, and John Estrada; and in-laws, Sotero and Josephine Salazar.
