Bonnie L. Iron Horse Sanchez, 63, of Scottsbluff, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at ACTS United Pentecostal Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Larry Daugherty officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Bonnie’s wishes. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Bonnie was born March 25, 1959, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota to Ernest and Martha (Gray Grass) Iron Horse. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1977. Bonnie went on to attend college and receive her associates degree.
She moved to Manderson, South Dakota where she met and married Aloysius Yellow Boy. Together they welcomed two children: John and Alysa. The family made their home in Scottsbluff.
Bonnie worked as a social worker and para legal for many years. She was previously employed at Nebraska Legal Aide.
She was funny, happy, and a “mama-bear” who passionately loved, protected, and provided to her family. Bonnie enjoyed cooking and was very active in her church.
Survivors include her daughter, Alysa (Josh Reed) Yellow Boy; daughter, Keilly Iron Horse; grandchildren, Avaya Yellow Boy and Sahmara Yellow Boy; sister, Robin Carreon; beloved grand-dog, Tucker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Yellow Boy; and siblings, Faye Chief Eagle, David Iron Horse Sr., Norwood Iron Horse, Paula Rodriguez, and Haroldene Iron Horse Rodriguez.
