Carrie Marquez

April 2, 1971 — March 7, 2022

Carrie Marie Marquez, 50, of Scottsbluff, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 7, 2022.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2022, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. The United States Air Force and Gering American Legion Post 36 will provide military funeral honors.  A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.  The services will be livestreamed and recorded to Carrie’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.  Memorials may be made to the Carrie Marquez Memorial Fund located at First National Bank in Scottsbluff.

Carrie was born April 2, 1971, in Scottsbluff.  She was active in sports during her school years and especially excelled in cross country.  Carrie graduated from Mitchell High School and then immediately enlisted into the United States Air Force.  She transitioned into the Wyoming National Guard before being honorably discharged.

Carrie held various jobs throughout her life including being a postal carrier in Mitchell for many years.  Her most important “duty” and greatest joy was being a mother to her sons, Colby and Creighton.

She was a free spirit and always up to try anything.  Carrie had a bold personality that never went unnoticed despite her short stature.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing with her boys, and collecting sunglasses and other little trinkets.  Carrie was thoughtful, giving and cared deeply about the needs of others.  Family was important to her.  She loved being an aunt and grandma “G” to her first and only grandson, Malcolm.

Survivors include her sons, Colby (Kassandra) Dike and Creighton Dike; grandson, Malcolm Dike; mother, Eloise Marquez; sister, Amber (Brian) Weinmaster; father, Ralph Marquez; nephews and nieces, Landry, Cambry, Gianna, and Nikoli; along with aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and other extended family members.

Carrie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William Sr. and Rosie Blanco; paternal grandparents, Frank and Louise Marquez; brother, Dominic Marquez; aunt, Christina Blanco Marquez; and uncles, Willie Jr. and Phillip Blanco, and Tony, Frank and Daniel Marquez.
