Cheryl Joan Wilkinson

Cheryl Joan Wilkinson, age 104, of Gering, Nebraska, died Friday, June 19, 2026, at Monument Healthcare and Nursing Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Her memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to the West Nebraska Art Center or WestWay Christian Church. Cheryl was born in Alliance, Nebraska, to Clair and Helen (Kicken) Wilson on February 25, 1922. Cheryl and her older sister, Arlene, and brother, Melvin “Buster”, were raised on a ranch north of Lakeside, Nebraska.

Cheryl married Johnie Wilkinson on March 11, 1943. They had three children: Charles “Chuck”, Denise, and Kurt.

Cheryl taught in rural schools most of her life, but her passions were painting, photography, and writing poetry.

Survivors include her children, Chuck (Carol) Wilkinson, Denise Prohs, and Kurt (Susan) Wilkinson; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister; and brother.
