Cindi D. (Flammang) Meter

Cindi D. (Flammang) Meter, born January 29, 1953, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed peacefully on September 20, 2026. Her funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Calvary Memorial Church in Gering, Nebraska, with Pastor Gary Hashley officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund in Cindi’s memory. Memorial contributions will be donated to Camp Rock Ministries, reflecting Cindi’s love for the Lord and her desire to see faith passed on to future generations. Cindi was born to Robert and Emma (Schwartzkopf) Meter. Cindi attended school in Melbeta throughout her school years and graduated with the Class of 1971. She was a cheerleader, participated in a singing group that performed throughout the valley, and was crowned May Day Queen. A true social butterfly, she formed close friendships with classmates who remained important to her throughout her life. She treasured those friendships and faithfully attended her class reunions over the years. Cindi later attended Western Nebraska Community College, where she earned an associate degree in accounting.

Cindi spent much of her working life with the United States Postal Service. She served as postmaster in Melbeta for approximately half of her postal career and spent the remaining years working as a postal clerk in Minatare. In addition to her work for the Postal Service, Cindi operated a cleaning business for many years, caring for a number of local businesses and government buildings throughout the area, including her own church, Calvary Memorial.

Cindi was incredibly selfless. Her love was never-ending, and her generosity always went above and beyond for her family and friends. She worked hard, sacrificed much, and gave freely of herself throughout her life to make sure the people she loved were cared for.

Her smile and laugh were contagious, and she could find humor in the silliest things. She made life feel safer and warmer simply by being there. Birthdays, holidays, and ordinary family gatherings meant a kitchen full of food, usually enough to feed an army.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She loved and faithfully served the Lord and spent many years serving her church, Calvary Memorial. She especially enjoyed decorating the church for Christmas and the annual Feast of Thanks celebration. Decorating was one of the many ways Cindi showed her love for others, and she had a gift for making special occasions feel even more special. Her crowning decorating project was her daughter Dancinee’s wedding, into which she poured herself wholeheartedly. She was immensely proud of how beautifully everything came together.

Some of her family’s most treasured memories were made while camping and spending time together at the lake. She passed her love of camping on to her children, who have continued that tradition with their own families.

Survivors include her father, Robert; her sister, Pat (Gary) Gross; and her brother, Robin (Kristi) Meter. She was a devoted mother to her children, Jason (Kathleen) Flammang and Dancinee (Ben) Jennings, and a deeply loving grandmother to Jonah, Lilliana, Asher, and Eloise Flammang, and James Jennings. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma.

Above all, Cindi loved her family fiercely. She raised her children knowing Jesus as their Savior and instilled in them the importance of faith, hard work, generosity, and putting family first. Those values, along with her steadfast love and strength, will continue through her children and grandchildren.

Her family will forever be grateful for the happy memories she stitched together throughout their lives and the pieces of herself she leaves within each of them. Cindi gave all she had for her children and family, loved the Lord with all her heart, and leaves a legacy of faith and selfless love. There is peace in knowing her suffering has ended and she is now home with the Lord.
