Concha Asension Burila passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her daughters and family on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the age of 74.
Born to Bernardo Palomo Sr. and Aurelia Zamarripa Palomo, she was the third eldest of ten children: Bernardo Palomo Jr., Julian (Della) Palomo, Phllip Palomo Sr., Rudy (Lucy) Palomo, Angie (Abel) Renteria, Adeline (Rod) Palomo, Pedro Palomo Sr., Henry Palomo and Patricia (Isidro) Morales. She had two beloved daughters, Delia (Denise) Santana, Felicia Calderon, adopted daughter, Aisha P. Fanning, and was very close to Peter Burila. Concha was preceded in passing by her parents, Bernardo and Aurelia Palomo, Manuel Porras, and Irene Palomo.
Concha was a proud Grandma to five grandchildren, the source of her pride and joy. She had many interests which included dancing, watching sports, and shopping for new clothes for herself and family members. Concha was always a hard worker in and outside the home and a mother figure to not only her daughters, but younger siblings who lovingly referred to her as the “The General”. She had a vibrant smile and a laugh that filled up a room, coupled with a sweet nature. She never missed an opportunity to tell her loved ones how much she cared about them.
Despite so much adversity and setbacks in her life, she maintained a resilient attitude and had the best inappropriate jokes. It was not out of the ordinary for her to catcall men from the car and even joked about her final wishes. Initially she requested taxidermy, but soon realized it is frowned upon, so instead, opted for her second choice of cremation, followed by the spreading of her ashes with her beloved parents.
No real words can ever describe what a wonderful person she truly was to her friends and family. She is so deeply missed, and we always appreciated everything she did for all of us. We are indebted to you. Vaya con Dios until we are reunited again.
