Dolores was born October 23, 1942, in Moorhead, Minnesota to Lorenzo Sr. and Clara (Ramirez) Ortiz. The family primarily made their home in Crystal City, Texas but vastly traveled for migrant work during Dolores’ childhood.

She married and became the proud mother of four children. Dolores discovered her true calling in the joy that accompanied motherhood. She was a wonderful mother who committed her life to the well-being of her family. She progressed her caregiver role as a devoted grandmother and later a great-grandmother. Her home was always open to family, and she selflessly provided what she could for their comfort, needs, and support. Caregiving came naturally to Dolores, and in her younger years she also took care of several elderly people for her friends.

Although her duties as a homemaker were foremost in her work history, Dolores also held various factory positions to provide for her household. Unfortunately, Dolores suffered an unexpected work injury in the early nineties that left her disabled for the remainder of her life.

Dolores lived simply and humbly. She will be profoundly missed by her beloved family.

Survivors include her sons, Joe Ramos and Louie Ramos Jr.; daughters, Cynthia Cabrera and Sheryl Hernandez; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Sabino Ortiz, Lorenzo Ortiz Jr., and J. Marcos Ortiz; sisters, Epi Ortiz and Clara Garcia; along with multiple other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo Sr. and Clara Ortiz; ex-husband and father of her children, Luis Ramos; brother, Marine Cpl. Melecio Ortiz (Vietnam 1967 USMC); sister, Margarite Maldonado; grandson, Marco Angelo Ramos; and granddaughter, Maria Renteria.
