Donna Mae Dendy

March 5, 1931 — March 21, 2023

Donna Mae Dendy, 92, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2022, at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard. Service information will be announced at a later date and cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Donna was born March 5, 1931, to Milroy and Pearl (Hollingsworth) Morrison. She grew up in the Haig area west of Scottsbluff, and often times rode horseback to the country school. The family later moved to Alliance. Donna was a cheerleader and graduated from Alliance High School.

She moved to California following graduation. Donna was living there when she met US Air Force serviceman, Julian Dendy. The couple married in 1953 and together they welcomed two daughters, Bobbie and Stacy.

The military life created several moves for the Dendy family, but after Julian’s retirement, they settled in western Nebraska. They made their home in Alliance and Gering, and then later divorced.

Donna worked at D&H Electronics and then MidWec. She eventually began employment with Burlington Northern Railroad where she held positions in both Alliance and Guernsey.  Donna retired from the railroad, but staying home was just not her style. She soon began to work at Panhandle Coop where she assisted customers with carrying out their groceries. Donna enjoyed visiting with all the shoppers, enjoyed her co-workers, the children and of course, the dogs.  She delighted in her duties there for over seventeen years.

She was happy being outdoors, hiking in Guernsey, spending time with her cats and dogs, and feeding the birds. Donna created a cozy home of her own in Gering where she happily welcomed and cared for all the neighborhood cats.  She was a member of the Church of Christ in Scottsbluff.

Survivors include her daughters, Bobbie Dendy of Bayard and Stacy Dendy (Bob Pillow) of Paragould, Arkansas; granddaughter, Mandi (Brian) Sauer of Bayard; three great-grandchildren, Haley Sauer (Rayln Gile Martinez, fiance) of Phoenix, AZ and Sierra and Ben Sauer of Bayard; along with other extended family members.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Milroy and Pearl Morrison; siblings, Norma Vohland and Jerre Richardson; and brothers-in-law, Roger Richardson and MJ Morrison.
