Edward D. "Stewy" Janis Jr.

Edward D. Janis Jr., affectionately known as, “Stewy”, age 31, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2026, at Lakota Lutheran Center & Chapel in Scottsbluff. He was born on September 10, 1994, to Edward D. Janis Sr. and Iva R. Poor Bear. From an early age, Stewy was known for his unique spirit, kind heart, and the strong connections he formed with family and friends.

Stewy will be remembered for his kindness and humor, which brought comfort and joy to those around him. He had a natural ability to make others smile, even during difficult times, and his personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will also be remembered for the love he shared, his loyalty to those close to him, and the lasting memories he created throughout his life. Though his time was far too short, the impact he made will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his father, Edward D. Janis Sr.; his sisters, Angela Poor Bear, Elizabeth Janis, Andrea Janis, Evelyn Janis, and Erika DeMott; and his brother, Edwin Janis. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Wanda Poor Bear, along with extended family members and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Stewy was preceded in death by his mother, Iva R. Poor Bear; his sisters, Felicia Janis and Cierra Janis; his maternal grandfather, Hanson Poor Bear; and his paternal grandparents, Stephen Janis and Ramona Janis. Forever loved, forever remembered, forever missed.
