Felipe E. Palomo Sr.

Felipe E. Palomo Sr., 79, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Fr. Mike McDonald as celebrant. The Nebraska Army National Guard and Gering American Legion Post 36 Funeral Honor Guard will provide military honors. No viewing will be held per Felipe’s request. Felipe was born May 26, 1944, in Harlingen, Texas to Marcelo and Virginia (Escobedo) Palomo. He attended school until he began working full time in his teenage years. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and served for two years during the Vietnam War.

Felipe became a proud father to his children and as a single, divorced man, he raised his family with the help of his parents and other family members.

He worked at the potato factory near Mitchell before beginning a twenty-year career as a foreman in bean production and processing.

Survivors include his children, Rosalinda (Domingo) Sabala, Martina Palomo, Brenda (Luis) Pantoja, Johnny (Betty) Palomo, and Bacilio Palomo Sr.; grandchildren, Marcela (Alex) Aten, Cruz Sabala, Esai Sabala, and Eric Sabala, Daniela Palomo, Erica (Omar) Garcia, Iliana Palomo, Vincent Palomo, Yolanda Palomo, Mercedes (Juan) Gonzales, Reina Pantoja, Luis Pantoja Jr., Adrian Pantoja, Christopher Palomo, Alex Palomo, and Adam Palomo, Felipe Palomo III, Adrianna Palomo, Bacilio Palomo Jr., Nadia Palomo, and Kristle Palomo; great-grandchildren, Kyran, Aliya, and Baylor, Camila, Karla, Julian, Lilana, Antonio, and Nevaeh, Araceli and Jaden, Isabella, Anna, Nicolas, and Gladys, and Zzyzek; brother, Benito Palomo; sister-in-law, Celia Palomo; sisters, Tacha Murrieta, Pam (Manuel) Najera, Marcelina (David) Enriquez, Julia Mendez, and Vicenta (Louie) Ramirez; along with numerous other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and their spouses, Bernardo and Aurelia Palomo, Matilde and Irma Palomo, Domingo and Theresa Palomo, Ramon and Rosa Palomo, Cruz Palomo, and Claudia and Nicholas Doñez; son, Felipe Palomo Jr.; grandchildren, Lilianna and Gabriel Pantoja; and great-grandson, and Grayson Aten.
