Francisco “Frank” Chavez Jr., age 73, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on December 20, 2025, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Hampton Inn & Suites Conference Center in Scottsbluff. A graveside service will follow beginning at 2 p.m., at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska, for both he and his late wife, Connie Z. Chavez. The United States Marine Corps and Gering American Legion Post 36 Honor Guard will provide military funeral honors. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Frank was born on November 5, 1952, in Brownsville, Texas, to Francisco Sr. and Maria Concepcion (Jimenez) Chavez. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1973 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune as a military police officer. Frank obtained two associates degrees from Western Nebraska Community College in Power Mechanics and Information Technology.
He married the love of his life, Connie Z. Garcia, on November 13th, 1981, in Torrington, Wyoming.
Frank was a skilled mechanic who dedicated his expertise to various service shops in the area. In addition to his work in the automotive industry, he served the City of Scottsbluff for many years as a diligent groundskeeper and maintenance man. Frank eventually retired from his position with the city after a long and dedicated career.
He enjoyed painting and shooting firearms in his free time. Frank was always a devoted father and husband who would give the shirt off his back to help others in need. He was also a member and supporter of the West Nebraska Arts Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (Dhanraj) Kotian; sons, Mario (Priscilla) Chavez, Kristopher and Arista Booker, Adam, Maximilliano, Francisco III, and Antonio Chavez; brothers, Humberto and Gabriel Chavez; sisters, Mary Jane Chavez and Gloria (Tino) Vasquez; 16 grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Chavez; parents, Francisco Sr. and Maria Chavez; and brothers, Daniel and Efrain Chavez.
