Geary Lea Low

May 24, 2023 — April 21, 2023

Geary Lea Low, 73, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Mitchell Berean Church in Mitchell, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes.  Online condolences can be expressed by visiting Geary’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Geary was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scottsbluff on May 24, 1949, to Joseph and Helen (Ebel) Calvert. It was evident from an early age that Geary was her own person and walked to her own beat. Geary didn’t care much for the slow-paced school days, but she did enjoy being a baton twirler during her high school years.

She married Edward “Ed” Low on October 1, 1967, in Minatare, Nebraska. The couple welcomed three children: Kim, Troy, and Jeff. Geary raised her family while also working at various waitressing jobs in the valley.

Geary was an avid bowler on multiple leagues during the years. She also enjoyed playing horseshoes, darts, and corn hole. Every football season she faithfully cheered for her favorite teams, the Denver Broncos and the Nebraska Huskers. Geary was a friend of all animals, and especially loved her dogs, Buddy and Wally, who remained near to her side until her passing. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.

Throughout her childhood and the remainder of her life she was known to be vivacious and daring. Her bright confidence and onery personality were some of her most admirable traits. Geary was always determined to live life on her own terms.   If anyone dared argue with her, she would simply look at them and say, “I’ll decide.”  Geary was strongly devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by those who are left to cherish her memory.   It was her wish that she always be remembered with laughter.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Low of rural Scottsbluff; children, Kim (Billy) Hutchinson of Minatare, Troy (Maritza) Low of Parker, CO, and Jeff Low of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Shelby Hutchinson of Gering, Jordan Low of Oregon, Loralai Houston-Low of Parker, CO, Gracie Mancia of Parker, CO, Cristiano Mancia of Denver, CO, and Elena Escobar of Parker, CO; great-granddaughter, PayTynn Franco of Gering; siblings, Cliff (Carol) Calvert of Jacksonville, FL and Dorothy Joy of Scottsbluff; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lavinia Suhr of Gering, Harold (Darlene) Low of Arapahoe, NE, and Darlene Brown of Kansas; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
