Irene R. Carrizales

Irene R. Carrizales, age 94, of Morrill, Nebraska, passed away peacefully and quietly in prayer with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell, Nebraska, with Fr. Todd Philipsen as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery near Morrill. Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m., on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the church. Memorials in Irene’s honor may be made to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. The Mass will be livestreamed and recorded on Irene’s obituary page, viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Irene was born October 20, 1931, in Staples, Texas, to Concepcion and Hilaria (Solano) Rodriguez.

She met Miguel Carrizales, and the couple married in September of 1952. They made their home in Texas until 1966, when they moved to Nebraska.

Irene poured her heart into raising her family and keeping the household running smoothly throughout her life. She loved cooking delicious meals for her big family, and her tamales became a cherished tradition at Christmas. Her burritos were so popular that she even started a side business selling them. Irene also had a passion for dancing and took great joy in tending to her beautiful flowers. Playing Loteria, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and knitting were some of her favorite pastimes. She had a special place in her heart for all of her beloved animals.

Irene was a faithful member of the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Morrill and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. She made time to attend daily Mass whenever possible and regularly prayed the Rosary.

Survivors include her children, Paula, Dora, Juan (Karen), Cruz (Joe), Margarito (Peggy), and Alicia (Ezequiel); grandchildren, Gerald, Christopher, Christy, Rick, Gilbert, Robert, Mark, Aaron, Rachel, Erica, Derick, Lissa, Jordan, Jeremy, Michael, and Mariah; 33 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Pabla, Frances, Antonia, Luis, Josefina, and Maria; along with many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Miguel; son, Miguel Jr.; sons-in-law, Lucio and Salvador; granddaughter, Gabriella; and siblings, Angel, Juan, Catarina, Jose “Pepe”, Albino, Pedro, Dominga, and Juana.
