On October 15th, 2025, I lost the love of my life, Jason Ray Butler, at the age of 49, in Alliance, Nebraska, at Box Butte General Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held June 20, 2026, at the Broncho Bar in Torrington, Wyoming, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Jason's obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Jason was born on August 1, 1976, in Lusk, Wyoming, to Terry Ray and Camilla (Robinson) Butler. He was raised in Torrington most of his life and made many friends in the area. Jason graduated from Torrington High School in 1995. He attended Eastern Wyoming Community College for one semester before deciding to join the workforce.
He reconnected with his “Pretty”, Mariah Brady, in 2020 after seeing each other at a company event. They dated until August 23rd, 2024, when they were united in marriage in front of family and friends with his daughter, Phoenix, officiating the ceremony. When Jason and Mariah joined in union, he gained two more daughters, a son, two granddaughters and a grandson. Jason’s greatest accomplishment came the day that Phoenix Storm was born on June 12th, 1997. They had many adventures from camping, hunting, and spontaneous trips all over the place scrapping.
Jason and Phoenix spoke on the phone every day to keep up with the daily life of each other and they had the best bond I have ever seen. If they did not talk, they would at least text each other. They used to make dinner together frequently until we all relocated away from each other for work. We still made sure to have meals together whenever we had the chance to visit. Jason and Phoenix had an unbreakable bond, the true meaning of Daddy’s little girl. Phoenix was the apple of his eye, and he tried his best to make sure she had everything she could ever need.
He worked several different jobs ranging from scrapping to his last job of hydro testing. Out of all the jobs he had, I would say he loved working in the scrap yard more than anything because it was outdoors. Jason loved his animals, Nine and Brodie. He is now reunited with some of his beloved pets, including his Chiloh. He had lots of love for the skunks and animals at his moms.
Jason loved with all his heart whether it was family, friends, or his animals. He had a very quirky personality which paired perfectly with his pride and joy, Phoenix. Jason loved the randomness of traveling or doing anything spontaneously. We took lots of unplanned trips like going to the pumpkin patch by Lingle, Wyoming, or camping in Douglas, Wyoming. In the last couple of months, we have done a lot of trips including our honeymoon to Hot Springs, South Dakota. Immediately following this excursion, he got to take a trip with his mama to Cody, Wyoming, to care for a skunk.
The trip to Cody was an amazing experience for Jason and his mama where they got to spend quality time together. One of Jason’s most prideful moments was walking his BBG, Phoenix, down the aisle in front of family and friends to the love of her life and perfect life partner, Terry Johnson, on June 28, 2025, in Laramie, Wyoming.
Jason is survived by his wife, Mariah Butler; mother, Camilla Seigel; mother in law, Thresa Carey; daughter, Phoenix (Terry) Johnson; bonus kids, Caleigh (Charles Poor Bear) Brady, Isaiah Kelsey, and Keaira Hefley; bonus grandkids, Ava, Sage, and Ember Poor Bear; sisters, Shannon (Cole) Tinnin, Nikotah (Steve) Pedden, Tami (Mike) Graybill, Annie Butler, and Tuesday (Scott) Clark; brother in laws, Owen (Pauline) Carey, and Zachary (Megan) Olivarez; nephews Nick (Jamie) Clark, Justin (Kamille) Clark, and Patrick (Jessica) Clark; nieces, Barbie Clark, Brandi (Rickey) Keith, Chala Graybill, Ryliee Ann, and Alexis (Josh) Lopez; great niece, Emma Keith; great nephews, Rowdy and Westin Keith, and Zachary Graybill; aunt, Laurie (Kenny) Zumwalt; cousins, Dylan (Erin), Garrett, Bryce, Addison, Ben (Lara), Aftyn, and Hope Hager; brother from another mother, Thomas “Turtle” Pierson; best friend Amy Spencer; Phoenix’s mother, Anne Kannianen Babiuk and her children, Sephirah and Cypher Babiuk; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
