Jennifer was born in 1957, the only daughter among five boys to Benjamin Jr. and Billye (Murphy) Castinado. She was seemingly favored above the boys, but more likely, just smart enough to get away with her onerous spirit. It was evident while she was growing up that Jennifer was creative, outgoing, and strong. She had an iron-clad wit and sharp sense of humor that could rival the best, yet family and friends remained the center of her world.
When Jennifer’s three daughters were born, she welcomed motherhood. She was attentive and gentle, generous, and patient. The sound of her voice could make you cry the instant she said, “hello”, and there was nothing she wouldn’t forgive. These caring traits carried over into her career as a nurse, where she excelled and fulfilled her dream to work in the medical field.
As a friend, “Jenni”, had much to offer to those in her life. She had an abundance of empathy and love and could often see beauty where others could not. She felt all things deeply.
Perhaps more than anything, she loved being, “Nam”. Her heart expanded and her devotion grew when her grandchildren came into this world. She spoiled the kids with her time and affection, probably too many sweets, and definitely too many gifts. Her answer was always, “yes”.
Jennifer, Mom, Jenni, Nam, your absence leaves an unfillable place in our lives. You will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Jessica (Nickolas Wesner) Furrer, Sarah (David) Green, and Amanda (Jerry) Gealy; her five grandchildren, Aleigh Portenier, Jocelyn Wesner, Avery Wesner, Ehren Green, and Benjamin Wesner; her father, Benjamin Castinado Jr.; and three brothers, Ben, Bart, and Brent Castinado.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Furrer; her mother, Billye Castinado; brothers, Brett, and Brad Castinado; and beloved pet, Mojo.
