Jerome Southerland Geschwender, age 65, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A celebration of Jerome’s life will be held at a later date and information will be announced once available. Jerome was born on October 11, 1959, at Fort Ord in Marina, California, to Jerry Southerland Geschwender and Macaria (Perez) Geschwender. He graduated from Mishawaka High School before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served with honor during the Gulf War. As a flight engineer on a P3 Orion and a LAMPS system organizational maintenance technician, Jerome dedicated sixteen years to his country before being honorably discharged.
Throughout his life, Jerome was married twice and was a proud father to two sons, Jerry and Joshua. His lifelong passion for aviation inspired his military career, and he also had a great love for riding motorcycles.
Survivors include his son, Joshua Geschwender; sisters, Julie Ann Geschwender, Chistine Weist, and Margaret Torpy; brothers, John Geschwender and Phillip.Geschwender; along with extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; older brother, Domingo Geschwender; younger brother, Jose Geschwender; the profound, life-altering, and tragic loss of his son, Jerry Southerland Geschwender; and beloved dog, Sheeba Sue.
