Judith "Judy" Kay Trevithick

Judith “Judy” Kay Trevithick, age 78, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at The Rock Church 3515 5th Ave, in Scottsbluff with Rev. Dr. Tyson Lambertson officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Judy’s wishes, and inurnment will be held at the Nebraska Veteran’s Cemetery at Alliance, Nebraska.

Judy was born May 21, 1945, in Spencer, Iowa to Eldon and Velma (Peters) Wiese of Everly, Iowa. She had one older brother, Robert Wiese.  

Judy attended school in Everly and graduated from high school. She then attended college in Orange City, Iowa and went on to Mankato State in Minnesota where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and English.

Judy was united in marriage to Ken Trevithick at Everly, Iowa on August 27, 1967. Judy and Ken had three children: Dan, Mark, and Deborah. The couple also adopted their great granddaughter, Amiyiah, and were raising her at the time of Judy’s passing.   

Judy’s first job was at a newspaper, The Spencer (Iowa) Reporter. After her marriage to Ken, Judy completed the educational requirements for a five year teaching degree and received her teaching certificate from the state of California.   Judy and Ken later founded and operated a Christian elementary school, grades: kindergarten through eighth, at their church in Lakewood, California. Wherever Judy and Ken lived, Judy was involved in teaching (California, Kansas, and Nebraska). Judy taught the fourth-grade class at Community Christian School in Scottsbluff for eighteen years until her retirement. Judy was always involved in education, both private and public. Every place that Judy and Ken lived, Judy was always teaching; at home, at church, at both private and public schools, wherever she felt called to go.

 She was an active member of The Rock Church in Scottsbluff. Judy always enjoyed spending time with her family at parks, playgrounds, or at home. She also loved to travel with Ken and/or her children.  

Survivors include her husband, Ken; sons, Dan (Karla) Trevithick and Mark Trevithick; daughter, Deborah (Marcus) Whaley; grandchildren, Austin, Bradley, Hayden, and Saxton, and Paulina, Abria, Zuri, and Dason; great-grandchildren, Amiyiah, Elijah, Ava, and Evelyn; brother-in-law, Greg (Jane) Trevithick; along with other extended family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Eldon and Velma Wiese; and her brother, Robert Wiese.
