Juell Chapman, age 89, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and formerly of Bison, South Dakota, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at Regional West Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the American Lutheran Church, 102 E Rogers St, Bison, SD, 57620. A separate service took place at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2026, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Pastor Calvin Chapman officiating. Juell was born to Howard Robert Sr. and Eva Lois (Basford) Chapman in Lodgepole, South Dakota, in late July of 1936. He was the youngest of four boys and graduated from high school in 1954.
He married his loving wife, Dolores (Larson), on October 22, 1955. Together, they raised their two children, Cheryl and William, in Bison, South Dakota.
Juell was a proud member of his community and worked at the Grand Electric for 31 years while tending to his farm and remaining forever devoted to family. He enjoyed a game of cards around the table with loved ones and watching his family play sports. He could even be coaxed into playing wiffle ball on his 70th anniversary as recently as last summer. He was admired by many and will always be remembered for his benevolence.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Dolores; children, Cheryl (Bob) Majeski and William (Julie) Chapman; grandchildren, Michael (Rhea) Wells, Sara (Bob) Klein, Staci (Tom) DeVore, Derrick Chapman, Michelle (Luke) Whitrock, Mandy (Justin) Eller, and Maddison (Chandler) Gerken; great grandchildren, MacKenzie (Jake), Kylie, Jhett, Taylor, Tyson, Liam, Ander, Kenai, Rohn, Tillie, Mac, Simon and Graham; brothers, Edward (Violet) and Lenard Chapman; as well as many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins.
Juell was preceded in death by his parents; and oldest brother, Howard Jr.
