Kenneth "Fred" Frederic Mai

Kenneth “Fred” Frederic Mai, 79, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Monument Rehabilitation and Care Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2027. Memorials may be made in care of his wife, Linda Mai, and will be designated to local organizations that support families and environmental conservation. Fred was born on February 20, 1947, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Jonathan “Fred” Frederic Jr. and Carolyn (Sinner) Mai. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1965. Fred then attended Casper College before completing a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wyoming.

He married Linda Kay (Geisick) in 1968 and together they raised 3 children; Anastasia, Christopher, and Warren. Fred took great pride in his work as a carpenter and was always passing on his knowledge to others.

Fred enjoyed vegetable gardening, woodworking, reading, music, and fly fishing. He also loved the journey of following his favorite teams; Husker Volleyball, the Tottenham Hotspur’s, and the New York Yankees. Always ready for a good discussion, Fred was a lifelong learner who was happiest spending time with those he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay Mai; children, Anastasia, Chris (Kate), and Warren (Jessica) Mai; grandchildren, Dakota, Ashton, Kao, Cowen, and Walker; great-grandchildren, Arlo, Forrest, Otto, Elias, and Ramona; brother, Dan (Norma) Mai; sister-in-law, Linda S Mai; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Carolyn Mai; and brother, Chris Mai.
