Lilly M. Steele, 81, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at her home. Cremation will take place in accordance with her wishes and services will be announced when available. Lilly was born May 22, 1941, in Sterling, Colorado to Joy Charles and Beatrice (Simmons) Whited.

She married and became a mother to seven children: Jacie, Kevin, Kimberly, Lisa, Paul, Jill, and Tammy. Lilly divorced and later met LeRoy Steele. The couple was married in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 11, 1988.

Lilly raised her family while also doing housekeeping at local hotels. She was happy while working at a daycare as well. She loved cats and tenderly cared for many throughout her life. Lilly was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. She had a sweet tooth and especially liked strawberry icecream.

She valued the importance of family and was very family oriented. Lilly could be counted on and was always there for others whenever needed. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet and understanding nature.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; children, Jacie (Becky) Ward, Kevin (Glenda) Ward, Kimberly (William) Trickler, Lisa (Steve) Wehtje, Paul Ward, and Jill Ward; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor McKinney, Diane Murphy and Connie May; along with other family members and friends.

Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and Beatrice Whited; daughter, Tammy Loukonen; and siblings, Roland Whited, Betty Moon, June Peterson, and Marlene Smith.
