Luis Gerardo Martinez Sifuentes

Luis Gerardo Martínez Sifuentes, de 46 años, de Scottsbluff, Nebraska, falleció el martes 15 de septiembre de 2026 en el Hospital Regional West Medical Center de Scottsbluff. Su Misa de cristiana sepultura se celebrará a las 10:30 de la mañana, con la recitación del Rosario a las 10:00 de la mañana, el lunes 21 de septiembre de 2026, en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Scottsbluff, con el Padre Joseph Thambi como oficiante. Su sepultura se llevará a cabo en el Cementerio Fairview de Scottsbluff. El velorio se llevará a cabo de 1:00 a 7:00 de la tarde el domingo 20 de septiembre de 2026, en Reverence Funeral Parlor en Scottsbluff. Luis nació en Durango, Durango, México, el 10 de mayo de 1980. Era hijo de Alma Angelina Sifuentes Sánchez. Tras graduarse en la Escuela Secundaria Técnica Nº 2, asistió a COBAED Madero y se graduó en COBAED. Continuó sus estudios en España de Durango, donde se licenció en derecho. Encontró su verdadera vocación en la educación y decidió convertirse en profesor de educación física en su antiguo instituto, donde enseñó durante diez años.

Luis tomó la difícil decisión en 2015 de dejar su país de origen y su familia extensa para emigrar a Estados Unidos con los que más amaba, con el fin de darles una mejor oportunidad en la vida. Él y su familia llegaron a Scottsbluff, donde descubrió su hogar lejos de casa.

Fue el día aleatorio del 20 de abril de 1999 cuando Luis caminaba por las calles de Durango y se enamoró a primera vista de su único y verdadero amor, Mariza. Sin saber cómo acercarse a ella, le pidió la hora aunque llevaba un reloj en la muñeca, y con esa simple pregunta comenzó su historia de amor. Poco después, nació su primer hijo, Luis, seguido por otro hijo, Alejandro, y sus hijas, Atziry y Arely. Luis y Mariza se casaron originalmente a través del juzgado, pero el 11 de mayo de 2024 se unieron en matrimonio a través de la Santa Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, donde él era un orgulloso miembro de la parroquia.

Luis era apasionado por los deportes y disfrutaba jugando y viendo baloncesto, fútbol, tenis, boxeo, béisbol y voleibol, así como en cualquier Juego Olímpico donde México estuviera representado. También le gustaba jugar al frontenis. Una de las muchas cosas que le gustaba era compartir su amor por el deporte con sus hijos y verlos jugar.

Desde pequeño, Luis ha sido conocido por pasear con el corazón lleno de alegría, que no solo entregaba a su familia, sino también libremente a sus amigos y seres cercanos. Se le caracterizaba por ser cariñoso, cariñoso, fuerte tanto mental como físicamente, divertido, valiente, simpático y bromista con un gran toque de travesura. Era alguien que nunca aceptaba un no como respuesta y alguien que abría los brazos a cualquier desconocido necesitado, muchas veces acogiendo a numerosas personas como propias. Aunque creció sin instrucciones sobre cómo ser padre, fue el mejor padre no solo para sus propios hijos, sino también para aquellos que adoptó en el camino. Como marido, fue el mejor esposo del mundo. Fue un mejor amigo y un confidente. Tomo muchos papeles como médico, terapeuta, incluso un excelente chef, el fue de las mejores personas que a caminado por este mundo.

Le sobreviven su amorosa esposa, Mariza Cisneros Valles; sus hijos Luis (Ashley) Martínez, Alejandro Martínez, Atziry Martínez y Arely Martínez; así como a innumerables familiares extensos y amigos.

Le precedieron en la muerte su madre, Alma Angelina Sifuentes Sánchez; su suegro, Francisco Cisneros García; y su suegra, María Del Socorro Valles Martínez.

Luis Gerardo Martinez Sifuentes, age 46, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., with recitation of the Rosary beginning prior at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Joseph Thambi as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made in care of Mariza Cisneros for their children’s future education needs. Luis was born in Durango, Durango Mexico, on May 10, 1980. He was the son of Alma Angelina Sifuentes Sanchez. After graduating Escuela Secundaria Tecnica No. 2, he attended COBAED Madero and graduated from COBAED. He further pursued academics at Universidad Espana de Durango where he graduated with a bachelor's in law. He found his true calling in education and decided to become a PE teacher at his former middle school, where he taught for ten years.

Luis made the difficult decision in 2015 to leave his home country and extended family to immigrate to the United States with the ones he loved most, in order to give them a better opportunity in life. He and his family arrived in Scottsbluff, where he discovered his home away from home.

It was the random day of April 20, 1999, that Luis was walking the streets of Durango and fell in love at first sight with his one and only true love, Mariza. Unsure of how to approach her, he asked her for the time even though he had a watch on his wrist, and with that simple question, their love story began. Not soon after, his first son, Luis, was born, followed by another son, Alejandro, and daughters, Atziry and Arely. Luis and Mariza were originally married through the court, but on May 11, 2024, they were united in marriage through the Holy Catholic Church at Our Lady of Guadalupe, where he was a proud member of the parish.

Luis was passionate about sports and enjoyed playing and watching basketball, watching soccer, tennis, boxing, baseball, and volleyball, as well as any Olympic games where Mexico was represented. He also liked playing frontennis. One of the many things he loved was sharing his love for sports with his children and watching them play.

Ever since he was young, Luis has been known to walk around with a heart full of joy, which he not only gave to his family, but also freely to his friends and close ones. He was characterized as loving, caring, strong both mentally and physically, funny, courageous, brave, friendly, and sassy with a big hint of silliness. He was someone who never accepted no as an answer, and someone who would open his arms to any stranger in need, many times taking in numerous people as his own. Although he grew up with no instructions on how to be a dad, he was the best dad to not only his own children, but also to those he adopted along the way. As a husband, he was the greatest through many ups and downs. He was a lover, a best friend, and a confidant. He played many roles such as a doctor, therapist, an excellent chef, and ultimately the best person to ever walk this earth.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mariza Cisneros Valles; children, Luis (Ashley) Martinez, Alejandro Martinez, Atziry Martinez, and Arely Martinez; as well as countless extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Alma Angelina Sifuentes Sanchez; father-in-law, Francisco Cisneros Garcia; and mother-in-law, Maria Del Socorro Valles Martinez.
