Lupe Perez, age 85, of Gering, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Chuck Wagon Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Pastor Steve and Pastor Al officiating. Lupe was born in Anson, Texas, to Edward Perez and Juanita Orosco. His mother passed away at a young age and Lupe was raised the majority of his life by his step-mom, Maria De La Luz Ruiz Perez, who raised him as her own. He moved to Paducah in 1955, where he embarked on a fulfilling journey. Initially working at K-mart in the auto parts department, Lupe later pursued a career as a self-employed general contractor, specializing in windows and patios. He purchased a house in Paducah in 2006.

In his early twenties Lupe married his first love, Elisa Mejia, who passed away in 2010. He began visiting Scottsbluff to connect with family in 2011, and while there, fate introduced him to Linda, his beloved "Little Lady." They married on September 4, 2012.

Lupe's devotion to faith was evident through his preaching and dedication to bringing others to Jesus. Known for his unwavering generosity, he would readily give his last penny to those in need. Lupe had a passion for cars, the Dallas Cowboys, cowboy boots, playing the guitar, dancing, music, and watching boxing. He cherished spending time with family, especially his regular activities with Rudy, Louie, and Dave. Lupe found joy in attending men's Bible study breakfasts and often shared his favorite sayings, such as "Dog-gon Turkeys", "For the Birds" and “Hello Folks”. His life was guided by Proverbs 11:25, which he held dear: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

Lupe is survived by his loving wife, Linda Green Perez; sons, Carlos (Imelda) and Tony Perez; daughter, Minerva (Joe) Jimenez; siblings, Juanita (Jesse) Vargas, Jesus Garza, Rudy (Rachel) Perez, Lucy (Fred) Garcia, and Vickie (Servando) Canales; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elisa Perez; and siblings, Richard, David, Joe, Santos, and Adella.

In honoring Lupe's memory, let us remember his legacy of kindness, faith, and joy, which touched the lives of all who knew him.
