Lupe Rabago Jr.

October 14, 1944 — June 6, 2023

Lupe Rabago Jr., 78, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at University of Colorado Medical Center following a short battle with lymphoma.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering, Nebraska with Fr. Mike McDonald as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Christ the King. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Lupe’s wishes. Memorials may be made in care of the family. The service will be livestreamed and recorded to Lupe’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

 

Lupe was born October 14, 1944, in Greeley, Colorado to Lupe Sr. and Rosa Maria (Gutierrez). He attended school at Scottsbluff Public Schools.

 

Lupe married Carol Ann Rivera on August 27, 1982, in Scottsbluff. Two sons were born to this union, Jason and Dominic.

 

Lupe worked for several years at Magnolia Homes. His remaining employment years were spent at Pepler Auto where he was an auto detailer until his retirement. Lupe had a knack for working on cars and enjoyed driving them.

 

He took great care of his yard and liked the time he spent outdoors tending to it. Playing Keno was another pastime he enjoyed. He was also an avid Nebraska Husker fan. He loved watching the games with family and friends, and he was always the life of the party with his jokes and silly comments. His grandchildren especially brought special joy and laughter to his life. He was always there for others and his generous, kind heart was one of his most admirable qualities.

 

Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann of Scottsbluff; sons, Jason of Las Vegas and Dominic (Ashley) of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Kayonn, Javeon, and Aniya Rose of Scottsbluff; brothers, David (Isabel) of El Paso, TX, Tito (Mariam) of Mission, SD, Pete (Nea) of Denver, CO, George of Alamosa, CO, and Marty of Scottsbluff; sisters, Angie of Scottsbluff, Beatrice of Tucumcari, NM, Christina of Denver, and Louisa of Ft. Morgan, CO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

 

Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, Lupe and Rosa; nephew, Aaron; and brother, Ramon.
