Margaret "Margy" Ann Schafer

July 8, 1930 — January 11, 2024

Margaret “Margy” A. Schafer of Gering, Nebraska, was accepted into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 11, 2024, after a long illness of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She was living at Heritage Estates at the time of her passing. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, at Reverence Funeral Parlor, 2002 Char Ave., Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Please join the family for a reception at 12:30 p.m. at the Flyover in Scottsbluff. Private inurnment will be at the East Lawn Cemetery near Minatare, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to Monument Bible Church or the Festival of Hope. The memorial service will be live-streamed and recorded to Margy’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. 

Margy was born July 8, 1930, in Minatare to Elmer and Goldie (Breeden) White. She attended and graduated high school in Minatare. 

Margy and Ronald Schafer were united in marriage on December 31, 1950. Four children were born into their union: Ronda, Mark, Susan and Chris. As her children grew, she was involved in their lives as a Girl and Boy Scout Leader, a homeroom mom, and a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher at the Methodist Church. She also served as a volunteer at the Methodist Church and Monument Bible Church. Margy was involved in Christian Women's Club and attended many bible studies throughout her life. She loved Jesus. 

Margy devoted her life to being a good mother and grandmother. Margy fiercely loved her family, friends, and her many dogs. She had a great love for reading and shared her library of books with several friends and family. She enjoyed music and the arts and was able to attend multiple productions in Scottsbluff and Gering with her friends. 

Family was of great importance to Margy, and she was very fortunate to be able to attend so many of the events her children and grandchildren participated in. Her grandchildren were the joy of her heart. 

Margy/Mom/Grammy is greatly missed by her children, Ronda Kruse of Hewitt, TX, Mark (Bethany) Schafer of Berkeley, CA, Susan Hall of Sidney, NE, and Chris (Deanne) Schafer of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Kristin (Ryan) Woodward, Sarah Hall, Zachary Hall, Zane (Shana) Hall, Jesse (Meagan) Kruse, Elizabeth Schafer, Alexander Schafer and Karri (Tim) Taggart; great-grandchildren, Logan Hall, Elliana and Melia Woodward, Mylah, Bryac and Zylas Hall, Zion, David Asher, Victory and Oaks Kruse; and nieces and nephews. 

Margy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron in 2000; sister, Betty Klemke; sister-in-law, Marjorie Bradley; brothers-in-law, Carl Eurich and Donald Klemke; sons-in-law, Darrell Hall and Alan Kruse. 

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and employees of Heritage Estates for the wonderful care and support she received during her stay.
