Marion "Micki" S. Applegate

Marion "Micki" Sue Applegate, 68, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, December 23, 2023, in the comfort of her home. A celebration of her life will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Robidoux RV Park Building located at 5855 Five Rocks Road in Gering, Nebraska. Micki was born on May Day in 1955 to Ivan and Dorothy (Rumsey) Applegate in Oshkosh, Nebraska. She grew up with her brothers, Bill and Jack, on Rush Creek Ranch.

She became a loving mother to four children she proudly raised: Shane, Lucas, Amy, and Kasi. Micki was an amazing woman and a great mother with the ability to care for her children while also putting herself through nursing school.

She completed her LPN certification and began a passionate career in nursing. She truly enjoyed nursing and even taught classes later in life. Micki was a caretaker professionally because that's who she was as a person.

Micki liked traveling, being outside, and spending time with family. She may not have always caught a fish, but she loved to drown worms. She enjoyed playing games and cribbage with family and friends and was always up for an adventure. Her grandkids adored her.

Micki fought a hard battle with cancer to get every moment with family that she could. She would give her last dime and her only plate of food to anyone who needed it. Micki was a true treasure, a fighter, and a hippie. Strong willed and soft hearted, always nurturing, giving, and beautiful. These are just a few of the many, special, and incredible traits about her that will be deeply missed.

Micki leaves a legacy behind her in her children, Shane (Chrissy) Spencer of Whitman, Lucas (Sara) Spencer of Scottsbluff, Amy Spencer of Scottsbluff, and Kasi Spencer of Cheyenne, WY; her grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, MacKenzie, Zach, Berlyn, Anna, Jasper, Naomie, Alyssa, Dani, Joshlynn, Corey, Gabby, Ethan, Trinity, and Ivy; and her best friend for life, Pam.

Micki said final goodbyes during her life to her parents, Ivan and Dorothy; and her brothers, Bill and Jack.
