MaryAnn Becker

Oct 13, 1942 — Oct 19, 2026

MaryAnn (Nuss) Becker, age 84, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 19, 2026, with her children by her side. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

MaryAnn was born on October 13, 1942, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the youngest of seven children born to Jacob and Mollie (Weinbender) Nuss. She was raised in the area and received her education through Alliance Public Schools in Alliance, Nebraska, graduating from Alliance High School with the class of 1961.

On June 25, 1977, MaryAnn was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Becker at the Gering Zion Church in Gering. They lived in Scottsbluff, Alliance, and Loveland, Colorado before settling in Gering where they raised three children: Suzanne, Aaron, and Jennifer.

While MaryAnn dedicated the majority of her life to caring for her family and home as a devoted homemaker, she also worked outside the home in various roles over the years. She was a friendly and familiar face to many while working at the Panhandle Co-op Deli and serving as a lunch lady in the Gering Junior High cafeteria.

A creative talent with a generous heart, MaryAnn's favorite pastimes centered around crafting and handiwork. She loved crocheting beautiful afghans for family and friends, cross-stitching, and embroidering quilt blocks to be assembled later by her daughter Suzanne. She also found great joy in creating all sorts of crafts for her dear friend, Marge Thompson, to use at Marge's preschool in Alliance.

She is survived by her three children: daughter, Suzanne (Chad) Dunkel of Scottsbluff, son, Aaron Becker of Gering, and daughter, Jennifer Minzey of Gering. Survivors also include her three grandchildren, Jadon Minzey of Gering, Brady Minzey of North Platte, NE, and Abigail Dunkel of Omaha, NE; as well as extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Ted Becker; her parents, Jacob and Mollie Nuss; her siblings: infant brother, Jimmy, sister, Jeanie (Skip) Andreasen, brother, Jake Jr. (Lois) Nuss, sister, Eleanore (Harvey) Trupp, brother, Jerry Nuss, and sister, Gladys (Adrian) Eaton.
