Melvin G. Knaub

Melvin Gene Knaub, age 88, of rural Gering, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Gering Zion Church with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to Gering Zion Church. Melvin was born October 19, 1936, in Minatare, Nebraska to Philip and Helen (Heigel) Knaub. From a young age, Melvin demonstrated an unwavering work ethic. He often held at least two jobs. He always knew he wanted to be a farmer and he was willing to work as hard as necessary to accomplish that dream. Melvin was employed as a general foreman at Lockwoods Corp for eighteen years. He helped build the missile silos in Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming for Morrison Knutson, a government contractor. Soon after, he founded Knaub Farms and spent the remainder of his life fulfilling his passion in the joys and challenges of farming. Melvin served on the Gering Irrigation Ditch Board for forty years.

Melvin married the love of his life, Eldora Uhrich on December 27, 1953. Together they welcomed four children: Deb, Mike, Roxy, and Mark.

Melvin believed in balancing hard work with quality time spent with family. He cherished creating lasting memories, taking his entire family on unforgettable trips to Disney World in 1990, 1993, and 1998.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Eldora Knaub; children, Deb (Dan) Keener, Mike (Brenda) Knaub, Roxy (Don) Mai, and Mark (Annette) Knaub; grandchildren, Luke Keener, Levi (Ashley) Keener, Megan (Casey) Dahlgrin, Miranda (Ron) Bernhardt, Zach Knaub, Abby (Seth)Yellman, Kelsey (Josh) Loutzenhiser, Jake (Ashley) Knaub, Kinsey (Tanner) Groves, and Jordan (Kaitlin) Knaub; great-grandchildren, Jovee, Sawyer, and Piper Keener, Gage and Jett Ruzicka, Tyson (McKenna) Dahlgrin and MaKenna Rose Dahlgrin, Remi and Mazi Bernhardt, Adam and Aron Knaub, Laura and Maddie Yellman, Kassie, Kambrie, and Jaxson Loutzenhiser, Trenton and Addy Knaub, Bexlie, Henry, and Ellie Groves, and Colbie and Camden Knaub; brother-in-law, Gary (Lucy) Uhrich; sister-in-law, Connie Duncan; along with other extended family members and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Helen Knaub; in-laws, Henry and Anna Uhrich; brothers, Robert (Peggy) Knaub and Jerry Knaub; brothers-in-law, Don (Lois) Uhrich and Bobby Duncan; sister-in-law, Shirley (Harold) Ruppel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
