Mona was born October 22, 1947, in Pomona, California to Miriam Stallings Giffen and James David Slater. She was raised in Pomona where she also attended school.

Mona married Robert Lagges and became a mother to her son, Robert Lagges Jr. She later married Steve Norden and had two daughters, Kristi and Kelly.

She raised her family while also working very demanding secretarial jobs. Mona was employed at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, a prestigious NASA center where she was also the secretary of their ski club. She eventually moved to Fort Collins where she began working in the office for Teledyne Waterpik for many, many years during their boom.

Mona was one of the nicest women to ever meet. She was a phenomenal skier, skiing nearly daily during the several years when she lived in Aspen, Colorado. Gardening was also a passion of Mona’s, and her beautiful yards reflected her incredibly talented green thumb. Most importantly, she loved her children and being their mom.

Survivors include her children, Robert Lagges Jr. (Krista Colbry), Kristi Norden, and Kelly Giel (Daniel); and granddaughters, Hannah and Savannah Arellano, and Holly Whittaker.

Mona was preceded in death by her mom, Miriam Stallings Giffen; brothers, Eric Slater and Don Giffen; and sister, Marjorie Slater.
