Raymond “Ray” Murdock, 86, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Rayappa Konka as celebrant. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. A private family inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with military honors. The service will be live-streamed and recorded to Ray’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s name.
Carl Raymond was born May 4, 1937, in Sherwood, Oregon to Lyman W. and Marian A. (Jones) Murdock. He graduated from Sherwood Union High School in 1955. Ray served in the United States Army as a Specialist from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958.
On Aug. 3, 1963, Ray was united in marriage to Rebecca “Becky” Connelly. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years. Ray received the Safe Driving Award for over three million miles driven.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Ray enjoyed sports, horses, tractors and rodeoing when he was younger, especially calf-roping. His greatest joy was his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Becky of Scottsbluff; sons, Joe (Cheryl) Murdock of Morrill, Brian (Shalaine) Murdock of Scottsbluff, Shawn (Stacy) Murdock of Mitchell; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Marian Murdock; siblings, Bud Murdock, Annabel Beecroft and Beverly Grabatin.
