Richard “Dick” Alexander Pester, age 72, of Minatare, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at East Lawn Cemetery near Minatare with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Cremation has taken place. Dick was born March 26, 1953, the youngest child of Alex and Dorothy (Heilbrun) Pester. He attended Lake Alice grade school and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, where he was a lifelong member.
After high school, Dick worked construction at sites in Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada. When he returned home, Pester Farms was started with his dad, Alex, and brother, Steve. He then went on to begin Pester Harvesting and Pester Trucking.
Dick married Jerra Cawthra on November 15, 1975, in Mitchell, Nebraska. They were blessed with a daughter, Sara, in 1981, and a son, Justin, in 1984.
Dick enjoyed working in his shop maintaining his trucks and equipment. However, his greatest sense of pride was being called “Papa” by his three grandchildren.
Dick lived a full life, worked hard, and will be greatly missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jerra Pester; children, Sara Pester (Jeremy Kuklish) and Justin Pester; grandchildren, Caden, Emma, and Lukas Pester; sister, Sheryl Knoles; brother, Steve (Michelle) Pester; brothers-in-law, Joel (Kim) Cawthra and Tim (Mitzi) Cawthra; sister-in-law, Janelle (Bob) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Dorothy Pester; grandparents, Jacob and Elizabeth Pester and Fred and Charlotte Heilbrun; and favorite uncle, Fred.
