Robert "Bob" Brower

September 18, 1955 — June 24, 2025

Robert “Bob” Charles Brower, age 69, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away after a short stay at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center in the Ponderosa Room (210615 NE-71, Gering). Memorials may be made in care of the family. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Bob’s obituary page viewable at www. reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Bob was born on September 18, 1955, in Kimball, Nebraska, to Richard Allen and Dorothy Rose (Shepard) Brower. He attended kindergarten through the second grade at a district four country school near Kimball. The family moved south of Dix, Nebraska for a few years before making their forever home in Gering in 1968. Bob attended Gering public schools and received his GED in 1973.

He married Rhonda J. Warnke in August of 1984 after a courtship of more than a decade. This union brought not only love and companionship but also the addition of his stepdaughter, Cathy, to his life.

Bob worked as a corrections officer and dispatcher for the Scottsbluff County Sheriff's Department. He later became a 911 operator and director for many years where he made numerous connections within the community. Bob also worked for Weathercraft, B&C Steel, and both the Wyoming and Nebraska Game and Parks.

He was an extreme lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gold panning. Bob was a talented musician, specializing in playing the drums from an early age. He was in several bands including the Stan Strecker Band, Bitter Creek, Cody Road, the Jay Lewis Band, and Dirty Johnny. Bob had a love for astrology and took pleasure in capturing photographs of eclipses through his telescope. His photography skills led him on many adventures of storm chasing and seizing any opportunity to take pictures of the sky.

Bob was a wonderful friend to many and greatly loved by his family. He was always a helping hand to all. His dry sense of humor and bad dad jokes were sure to make you laugh, but even without saying anything at all, his grin would set the stage to still make you smile. Bob was an avid Huskers fan and on game days you could hear him cheering and yelling from 5 miles away.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Brower; sister, Barb Pursley; stepdaughter Cathy (Scott) Williams; lifetime friend and ex-wife, Rhonda Brower; nephews, John (Jennifer) and Dan (Stella) Cole; great niece, Madison Cole; numerous cousins; and an abundance of great friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Brower; grandparents, Harry and Tilly Brower, and Joseph and Rose Shepard; and several aunts and uncles.
