Robert was born on June 9, 1940, at his home in Minatare, Nebraska, to Conrad and Katherine (Schaneman) Schledewitz.
He married Sharon Kay Grasmick in Scottsbluff, NE and to this union came their three daughters: Kimberley, Colette, and Melanie.
Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was known as “the inspector” when the new church was being built.
He was skilled in driving a tractor during his farming years. Robert loved nothing more than indulging in conversation over a handful of Munchkin donut holes. He enjoyed hunting and initiated and taught the first hunters safety course in Morrill; and of course, all of his girls had to take it. Robert also shared his joy for fishing with his grandson. Raising pheasants was another hobby of Robert’s, that also benefited the environment. Westerns and John Wayne were a constant in his world whether on television or the pictures hanging in his garage. Robert took great pride in his yard and outdoor Christmas decorations. He was certain to make sure all of his girls had a driver’s license and knew how to change the oil and tires should the need arise. Robert loved to tinker in the garage and enjoyed building bird houses and giving them away. When he wasn’t busy building bird houses, he was feeding and watching the birds; many of which inhabited his bird houses.
Survivors include his daughters, Kim Schledewitz (Dave Knoles), Colette Upton (Bob), and Melanie Frossard (Mark); grandchildren, Tyson Schledewitz (Nicole), Noah, Hannah, and Hadassah Upton; great-grandchildren, Amaya, Archer, Wesley, and Sloane; sister, Diane Lashley (Jim); brother, Richard Schledewitz; and brother-in-law, Mike Grasmick (Leanne).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon; parents, Conrad and Katherine Schledewitz; and siblings, Delores Vogel and Shirley Huck.
