Roy Edgar Clark

November 11, 1953 — July 6, 2023

Roy Edgar Clark, 69, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 6, 2023 in the comfort of his home.  No services are scheduled and cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Memorials may be made in care of the family and will be designated later. Online condolences can be expressed by visiting Roy’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Roy was born November 11, 1953, in Sterling, Colorado to Alta Mae (Ekstein) Clark. His mother moved the family to Lakewood, Colorado when Roy was a toddler and he was raised there along with his sister, Cherie Lu. He attended Jefferson High School in Lakewood, Colorado, later receiving his GED. Roy enlisted to the United States Navy in July 1972 serving until his honorable discharge in 1974.

He met Gerlene “Geri” Hobbs of North Riverside, Illinois while in the Navy during the summer of 1973. They were married on October 26, 1973, and to this union three children were brought into the world: John Roy on May 26, 1974, Mark Anthony on June 16, 1975, and Alta Marie on October 1, 1976. Roy moved his family to Colorado from Illinois in early 1976 and made their home around the Denver area.

Roy worked at Mountain States Decals for twelve years before he decided to take some training to become a truck driver. He went to work for Atwood Truck Lines for ten years and then made the move to start his own trucking company.   He was very proud of the success he had for sixteen years, until a medical issue took him out of trucking in November 2015. He was forced into early retirement and spent the next eight and a half years spending time at home with his wife, daughter, and granddaughters.

Roy really enjoyed the outdoors and took many opportunities for fishing and camping. However, out of all the things he liked doing during his life, it was easy to see that he loved his family most of all. He became a proud grandpa to five grandchildren who he adored and taught them each how to fish. He later welcomed two great-grandchildren. Roy was a very loyal person to his family, friends, and to his employers. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gerlene Frances Clark; son, John (Julie) Clark; daughter, Alta Marie Clark; grandchildren, Jaquelyn Knight, Justin Robert Clark and Jacob Roy Clark, Michelle Marie (Trevor) Bentley, and Cynthia May Clark; great-grandchildren, Kolby Russell Bentley and Treighton Marie Bentley; sister-in-law, Laurie Barrington; aunt, Judy Ekstein; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Mae Clark; sister, Cherie Lu Clark; infant son, Mark Clark on August 12, 1975; mother-in-law, Lorraine Hobbs; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hobbs and James Barrington; and several uncles and aunts.
