Sean A. "Moonshine" Gudgel

October 7, 1969 — July 5, 2023

Sean A. “Moonshine” Gudgel, 53, of Bayard, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at his home.  A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Chuck Wagon Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Pastor Larry Russel officiating. Cremation has taken place. Sean was born October 7, 1969, to Jack and Alice (Robinson) Gudgel.  He was the oldest of their five children.  Sean attended schools in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Louisiana and Germany, before graduating from Bayard High School in 1988.   Sean later graduated from WNCC in 2014 with a certificate in mechanics.

 

 

Sean held many jobs throughout his life including trucking, Walmart, Western Sugar, Fremont Motors, and Vertex. He also worked as a self-employed mechanic until his health deemed him disabled and he was forced to retire in 2015.  

 

 

God was number one in Sean’s life and although he wasn’t perfect, he always tried to better himself.  His favorite past time was either singing karaoke or listening to or showing support for his karaoke family.  He also enjoyed playing pool, bowling, fishing, riding motorcycles and working on his FORDs.

 

Survivors include his fur baby, Ginger; father, Jack (Patricia) Gudgel of Arkansas; siblings, Michael (Fhey) Gudgel and their children of Nebraska, Jeffery Gudgel of Texas, and Melanie (Victor) Blanco of Nebraska; his special nephews, Jordan and Anthony Blanco of Nebraska; step siblings, Amanda Shelton and her children of Louisiana and Anthony Shelton of Louisiana; along with numerous other extended family members.

 

Sean was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Gudgel; brother, Mark Gudgel; sister-in-law, Tina Gudgel; maternal grandparents, Bill and Dorothy Robinson; paternal grandparents, Charles Switzer, Ellen Lakey, and Amos and Mable Gudgel; and many other extended family members.
