Sharleen Kay Snygg

Sharleen Kay Snygg, age 83, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Sharleen’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Born on September 8, 1942, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Leo Thomas and Helen Dorothy (Hofferber) Shirley.

Sharleen was raised in Scottsbluff, attended Longfellow Elementary and Graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1960 where she was on the Cheer leading squad and played the Flute in the SHS Band. She graduated from Western Nebraska School of Nursing in 1972 and practiced as a Registered Nurse for over 35 years in Colorado, California, and primarily Nebraska. During that time, she was a nursing instructor at WNCC. From 1984 to 2007 she was staff nurse and eventually became the manager at RWMC Behavioral Health Unit. In retirement she stayed busy with part-time work at Reichert Jewelers.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering compassion, and the love she poured into her family, friends, and patients. She enjoyed singing with Valley Voices, attending grandchildren's activities, going to church, and collecting antiques and elephant figures. In 1984 she married Norris (Gene) Snygg. Together they enjoyed Golf and Husker Football and Husker Ladies Volleyball. Weekends were often scheduled around one of her favorites, watching the NASCAR racing.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. Services are pending and will be announced when available.

Sharleen is survived by her sister Carol (George) Flaherty, daughter Amber (Marc) Ball, sons Ames Hartung III, and Aaron (Dana) Hartung, stepdaughter Stacey (Rod) Schlueter, stepsons Russell (Linda) Snygg, Scott (Michelle) Snygg, grandchildren Tate (Tiffany) Acton, Klair Looschen, Rebecca Hartung, Megan Ens, Margaret Hartung, Ryan (Daegen) Schlueter, Ian Schlueter, Alecia (Jake) Gonzolez, Samantha (Greg) Gilg, Eric (Alexa) Snygg, Scott Snygg Jr., Dakota (Hanna) Ball, and Colby Devin.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband Gene.
