December 29, 1934 — November 9, 2025

Shirley Louise Wooden, age 90, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Chuck Wagon Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Memorials may be made in care of Chuck Wagon Church. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Shirley's obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Shirley was born on December 29, 1934, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to Earl and Mildred (Klinger) Woods. She moved with her family from the coal mines of Pennsylvania to Niagara Falls, New York, where she spent most of her youth.

She met her husband, Ronald Wooden, while he was stationed at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base. Ronald and Shirley married on November 21, 1953, and to this union their three daughters, Pamela, Rhonda, and Amy Beth, were born. The family moved from the city to a whole different lifestyle here in Nebraska following Ronald’s military service.

Shirley became quite the cook while caring for their ranch. She made three meals a day for sometimes as many as twenty men on their haying and branding crews. Her love for cooking followed her into a career with Regional West Medical Center where she provided meals for many. She retired from RWMC in 1996 but did not stay idle long before going back to work as a cook for the Gering Civic Center.

Her love for her church and family was insurmountable. Shirley was a good and faithful servant of God and lived her life following His word. She gave unconditional love to her family day in and day out. Shirley was the constant and the glue that held her family together. She was always available with open arms, wisdom, and a soothing nature.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Ray) Stuart and Rhonda (Bobby) Trojan; grandchildren, Benjamin Thompkins, Leisha (Brian) Thompkins, and Amanda (Tim) Wimmer; nine great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roseanne Powell; brother-in-law, James Lombard; special honorary daughters, Shirley Schwartzkopf and Betty Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Amy; and sister, Carol Lombard.
