Tammie Sue (Purviance) Droddy, 63, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, with her family by her side at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Jon Simpson and Pastor Giles Armstrong officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Tammie’s wishes. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Mitchell Berean Church. Tammie was born on May 7, 1960, in Morrill, Nebraska to Jerry and Dorothy (Parker) Purviance. She welcomed her first born daughter, Elizabeth Ann Purviance, on March 8, 1981. Tammie and Elizabeth made their home in Morrill, Nebraska until she met her future husband, John Droddy. Tammie and John married on August 12, 1989, at the Morrill First United Methodist Church. They were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. Tammie and John were blessed with two more children, Tina and Marquis Droddy.
Tammie worked as a bus driver for Head Start for many years before completing her degree at WNCC in early childhood development. Tammie found her true passion working amongst kids at ESU 13 until her health caused her to retire in 2021.
Tammie thoroughly enjoyed reading, gardening, and being an active member of Mitchell Berean Church. As an active member of the congregation, Tammie had the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Uganda, Africa, which provided many lasting memories. Tammie loved fishing, hummingbirds, her grandchildren, and the Green Bay Packers!
Tammie is survived by her husband, John of Mitchell; three children, Elizabeth, Tina, and Marquis of all of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Sabian Bartlett of Mitchell, Maxwell Stuart of Bridgeport, and Emersyn Wurdeman of Scottsbluff; mother, Dorothy Purviance of Morrill; brother, David Purviance of Morrill; niece, Cherisa (Nick) Lara of Morrill; nephew, Kaden (McKenzie) Purviance of Morrill; great-nephews and great-nieces, Andrew Lara and Emily Lara both of Morrill and Kiley, Karter, and Kason Purviance all of Morrill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Yvonne) Droddy of Oklahoma, Danny Droddy of California, and Karen (Ralph) Morehead of Stegall; along with other extended family members and friends.
Tammie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Marjorie Parker; paternal grandparents, Marquis and Elda Purviance; father, Jerry Purviance; brother, Billy Joe Purviance; son-in-law, Shawn Hendricks; and in-laws, Melvin and Elaine Houston.
