Tina Sue Bowlin

Tina Sue Bowlin, age 62, of Lyman, Nebraska, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Rustic Tavern in Morrill, Nebraska. Tina was born on August 31, 1962, in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Richard and Julia (Kellner) Sims. The family lived around the Torrington area for most of her childhood. Tina was a Torrington High School graduate.

She met Thomas Bowlin in 1981, and the couple married the following year. They shared life and three children, Jessica, Brandi, and Derek, together until 1996. Tina worked for the US Postal Service and later in life began working at Regional West as a pharmacy technician. She met Jon Hort and shared 28 years of her life loving on their shared children and grandchildren.

Tina enjoyed gardening, landscaping, decorating, and spending time with her family. She helped with youth sports while her children were younger. She created countless cherished memories with her grandchildren in the kitchen. No matter how terrible the dishes turned out, Tina always ate them with a smile on her face and never dared to discourage them. Tina spent many summers “irritating”, AKA irrigating, and teaching her grandchildren all about the crops she and Jon had planted. Mud fights, mud pies, and water fights were always right around the corner with Tina’s fun personality.

Survivors include ex-life partner, Jon Hort; ex-husband, Thomas Bowlin; children, Jessica (Steve Lind) Bowlin, Brandi (Michael) Trombley, and Derek (Adriana) Bowlin; stepchildren, AJ (Tiffany), Craig (Daniell), and Taylor Hort; grandchildren, Madisyn and Mersaydez Carrizales, Maddox Bowlin, and Lalaith, Waylon, Ellison, Lorelai, and Cori Hort; siblings, Dean Sims, Patti (Gene) Prickett, Coralea Kilgore, and Mark (Nyana) Sims; sister-in-law, Judy Bowlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Julia Sims; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
