Victor Mark Plasencio, 51, of Gering, Nebraska, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 16, 2023, at his daughter’s home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2023, at Northfield Church in Gering, with Pastor Gary Hunt and Pastor Rick McGraw officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.  Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 22, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.  The funeral service will be livestreamed and recorded to Victor’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Victor was born July 30, 1971, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Victor and Gloria Plasencio.  His early childhood years were spent in California, a place that remained dear to him throughout his life.  The family later moved to Nebraska where he attended school at Mitchell.

Victor and his siblings developed close friendships while growing up in the country.  He consistently maintained a unique relationship with each of them. He was especially close with his big brother, Victor M., who passed away at a young age. It was no secret that Victor was a “Mama’s Boy”, and he had a special bond with his mom, lovingly caring for her until her passing in January 2018. Like the love he had for his mother, Victor also shared a one-of-a-kind bond with his father, whom he loved dearly until his passing in September 2022. Family time was the absolute most cherished part of Victor’s entire life. He connected individually with each of his nieces and nephews, and truly enjoyed the ties he shared with all his family members.

Victor earned his GED and entered the workforce where he made a career in the construction and roofing industries. He lived humbly and was a very generous person despite his income.  He was known at times to only keep what little he needed and the rest he would give away to someone who he felt needed it more.

He was passionate about music from a very early age.  One of his favorite pastimes was cruising on scenic drives just enjoying the view and jamming to his tunes along the way. He was always up for a good time whether it be a party or hanging out playing 10,000 with his sisters.  Many may not know it, but Victor was also a very talented cook.  He was precise in his recipes and perfected peanut brittle.  He had a sweet tooth, particularly for Nutter Butter cookies.

Victor is irreplaceable in the lives of those who were so fortunate to know him.  He had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel personally important to him.  The memories shared with him will forever be cherished.

Survivors include his children, Marisa (Josh) Ashurst, Vanessa (Trey) Sterkel, Trinity Zwetzig, Angel Plasencio, Victoria Plasencio, and Markus Plasencio; four grandchildren, Matthius, Annalicia, Archer, and Elliott; sisters, Virginia Plasencio, Victoria Plasencio, Velma (Louie) Perez, Veronica Plasencio, Vera Jimenez Plasencio, Lupe Cande Plasencio, and Valerie Plasencio; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Welcoming him to Heaven were his parents, Victor and Gloria; and two brothers, both named Victor M. Plasencio.
