William Scott Curtis, age 55, of Scottsbluff, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE. A party in honor of Scott will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 7pm at the Union Bar in Gering, NE. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Scott's obituary page, viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Scott was born on May 18, 1970, in Hollywood, California to William Francis Curtis and Dorelle Goodman. After spending time in California and other states, Scott and his family eventually settled into Mitchell, Nebraska and he spent most of his adult life in Nebraska. Scott attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work.
Scott spent several years as a social worker for the State of Nebraska with a special focus on helping children in the court system and foster care. After his time at the state, he worked as a customer support tech for Vistabeam.
Scott never married, but he was known by all as a generous man who would always go out of his way to help people. He spent thousands of volunteer hours to help establish the Foster Care Closet that helped provide clothing and resources to children in need and people who aged out of the system that still needed support.
Scott was a big sports fan and counted the Milwaukee Brewers and Michigan Wolverines as his favorite teams. Scott was an accomplished heavyweight wrestler and lineman in football and even won an amateur boxing match in college. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and loved to buy and fix up old arcade video games, often giving the games to his friends and putting them in places where they would get played. Scott had a sharp wit and wasn’t afraid to put you in your place, but he did it with heart and that was how you knew he cared about you. Scott was known as “Big” among his oldest friends and “Thor” to his fraternity brothers at Tau Kappa Epsilon. Scott was beloved by his friends and his loss will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
Survivors include his sisters, Noelle Teigen and Danielle Wilson; brothers, Kenny and Robert Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Francis Curtis; mother, Dorelle Wilson; stepfather, Ken Wilson; and brother, John Wilson.
