William "Randy" Taylor

William “Randy” Taylor, age 76, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous journey with cancer. His graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. The United States Air Force and the Gering American Legion Post 36 Honor Guard will provide military funeral honors. Memorials may be made to the Panhandle Humane Society. Randy was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to William “Bill” and Dorothy (Wilson) Taylor. He graduated from high school in Nashville before joining the Air Force.

Randy dedicated his life to service, both to his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after twenty years of honorable service. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree at Chadron State College. Following his military career, he devoted another twenty years to Western Sugar, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.

On September 30, 1983, Randy married the love of his life, Ruth (Mott) Taylor. Together they built a life centered on family, loyalty, and enduring love.

Randy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed collecting coins, taking walks with his dogs, Cooper and Charley, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose steady presence, kindness, and sense of dedication touched the lives of those who knew him.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Taylor; son, Greg Taylor (Melissa); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Taylor; four grandchildren, Madeleine Taylor, Nick Taylor, Amelia Hanna, and Addison Taylor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sue and Bob Michal and Mark and Nancy Korell; his sisters, Sarah Adams and Vicky Hatfield; and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Milton and Phyllis Mott; son, Randy Taylor II; and siblings, Bryan Taylor, Janie Oldham, and Gail Jenkins.

Randy’s legacy of service, devotion to family, and quiet strength will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends.
