Robert served for four years, three of which were spent with a Radar unit in Germany.

He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and returned to construction work for some time.  He later enrolled at Scottsbluff Junior College graduating in 1958. He worked as a machinist at Sidles Chambers in Scottsbluff until 1964.

He was a loving and involved father, supporting his sons in Boy Scouts as well as multiple school sports and activities.  Lifelong memories were made together with his boys while he attended each of their various events throughout the years.

Robert enjoyed restoring old cars, hunting, and swimming at the YMCA. He remained very active into his retirement years.
